South Korean IT giants Samsung just unveiled its new Samsung Galaxy Gear smart-watch during the scheduled press conference at IFA 2013. Thanks to many leaks during recent days, we already knew what to expect, but the new Galaxy Gear was able to make an impression anyway.

Galaxy Gear is not a standalone phone as was expected, but an accessory for a Samsung Galaxy device. It has a 1.63 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, a 1.9 megapixel camera, capable of shooting 720p video, a single-core 800MHz Exynos processor, a speaker and two microphones. It can receive calls, record voice memos, show notifications, control music, use various apps and more.

Connection between a Galaxy device and Galaxy Gear is established through Bluetooth 4.0 and requires Android 4.3. On launch this smart-watch only supports Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition and Galaxy Note 3, the two new gadgets also unveiled at IFA 2013 on the same day as Galaxy Gear. Support for older devices, such as Galaxy S4, is expected in coming months.

The Galaxy Gear will launch in late September - early October and will be available in US for $299.
