Mac OS X Mavericks Gold Master is Out
Apple released today the latest Build of its upcoming desktop operating system, Mac OS X Mavericks. All previous beta versions of this OS were marked as 'Developer Preview', but this Build comes as 'Gold Master', which means that it is not so far from the release date of the final version of OS X 10.9. Build 13A598 is available for download for registered Apple developers and members of the AppleSeed program.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple already shifted its attention to developing the next version of OS X 10.10, which is expected to bring changes to design of Apple's desktop operating system, following the redesigns of iOS 7 and iCloud. We expect Apple to announce the next OS X and iOS versions next summer at WWDC 2014.
Apple also released a 10.8.5 update to Mac OS X Mountain Lion today, alongside iTunes 11.1.1. It contains usual stability and compatibility improvements, in addition to fixes concerning Mail, Screensaver, FaceTime Camera and other.
The OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.5 Update is recommended for all users running OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.5. This update:
- Resolves an issue that may prevent certain applications from using the FaceTime HD camera on mid-2013 MacBook Air systems
- Fixes an issue that may cause external hard drvies to be ejected after the computer goes to sleep
- Addresses an issue that may prevent HDMI audio from working after waking from sleep
- Fixes an issue that may prevent certain USB Bluetooth adapters from working
Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks is expected to be released this month, and it will come with a set of new features like iBooks, Apple Maps, Finder Tabs and others.
